Corporate Leader in Employment Diversity Award - Payne & Dolan Inc. was presented special recognition for "Corporate Leader in Employment Diversity". The award was presented by Wisconsin Secretary of the Department of Workforce Development - Reggie Newson on behalf of First Choice Pre-Apprenticeship/TrANS Program in Racine, WI.
Affirmative Action in Apprenticeships - Nominated by both the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development staff as well as the Operating Engineers Local 139, Payne & Dolan, Inc., was awarded the Affirmative Action in Apprenticeship for exemplary performance. Karen Morgan, Director of the Bureau of Apprenticeship Standards, stated that Payne & Dolan, Inc. has trained over 150 operating engineer apprentices since 1990. Of these apprentices 20% were minorities and/or females.
Exemplary Voluntary Efforts Award - Payne & Dolan is the first highway construction company to win this award (award was received in Washington D.C.). The EVE Award recognizes companies with outstanding efforts in enhancing employment opportunities for minorities, women, individuals with disabilities and Vietnam-era veterans.
Transportation Alliance for New Solutions Partnership Award - In recognition of your successful partnership with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the Federal Highway Administration, the YWCA of Greater Milwaukee, the Milwaukee Area American Indian Manpower Council, Esperanza Unida, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee, and the Wisconsin Transportation Builders Association, all of which provided training and employment opportunities to women and minorities in the transportation industry.
The Secretary's Award - In recognition of Payne & Dolan's continuing efforts to enhance the development of disadvantaged business enterprises in the state of Wisconsin. Under the leadership of Ned Bechthold, Payne & Dolan continues its work to increase job opportunities and training for members of the disadvantaged groups. Patriotic Employer - Payne & Dolan was awarded the Patriotic Employer Award by the Office of the Secretary of Defense for employer support of the National Guard & Reserve.
City of Milwaukee Recognition Certificate - During an all day community event, Payne & Dolan's Management Executives converged on W. Notre Dame Court in the Martin Drive neighborhood for an all-out effort to remove the undergrowth along side the bluff.

2011 NAPA Environmental Award - The National Asphalt Pavement Association awarded the the Franklin, WI asphalt producing plant as the winner of this prestigious award. NAPA selects the award recipient using rigorous criteria to evaluate the environmental friendliness of their operations. The plant has been in operation for 20 years and can produce both hot-mix asphalt and warm-mix asphalt. Also added is an odor-eliminating agent to its hot asphalt storage tanks.
The plant uses reclaimed asphalt pavement and recylced asphalt shingles, cutting the amount of virgin products required for asphalt production by 20%, The plant can burn natural gas and reclaimed fuel oil, reducing the need for virgin oils and providing beneficial reuse for a waste product.
2011 Environmental Award Finalist - The National Asphalt Pavement Association has selected two of Payne & Dolan's asphalt plants as finalists in its prestigious award. Environmental Citizenship Award - In 2000, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources presented Payne & Dolan with the prestigious Environmental Citizenship Award. The awards are based on rigorous inspection by the DNR, local government officials and industry representatives. Our plants in the following locations recieved this award: Waukesha, Franklin, Muskego, Cedar Lake, Racine, Paris and K & N. The National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) also presented the Diamond Achievement award to the following plant locations: Waukesha, Franklin, Muskego, Cedar Lake, Saukville, Racine, Paris and K & N. This award is based on criteria similar to the WDNR award.
Environmental Leadership Award - Exceeded the already high environmental standards that are set for the asphalt industry. Payne & Dolan has achieved environmental excellence above and beyond what is required by them by environmental regulations. The HMA Plant also has to show exemplary performance in safety, plant appearance and community relations.
