Community

Payne & Dolan is involved with and supports many community initiatives. We also participate in the social and political environment through active roles in a variety of worthwhile organizations. Community to our Company means a whole host of initiatives. The Company and its employees support numerous annual functions and volunteer for activities that benefit the community and the individual.

Employee development and diversification of our workforce is a primary focus of Payne & Dolan. The Company strives to provide equal opportunity through sponsorship of community based recruitment, college scholarships, apprenticeship committee participation and participation on Boards that support and promote affirmative action.

An example of this effort is the award of the US Department of Labor's Exemplary Voluntary Efforts (EVE) Award in 1999. Payne & Dolan is the first highway construction company to win this award, which was received in Washington DC. The EVE Award recognizes federal contractors with outstanding efforts in enhancing employment opportunities for minorities, women, and individuals with disabilities and Vietnam-era veterans.

In addition to our corporate sponsorships and donations to many worthwhile charities, Payne & Dolan also strives to conduct business with integrity, safety and quality thus benefiting the community as a whole.

Site facilities are maintained and groomed providing a pleasing welcome to our customers and the public. Employees are held to a high standard, for their sake as well as those around them. Ecological and environmental concerns are addressed regularly. Our open door policy also welcomes comments and issues raised by the community.

As a testimony to our commitment to the community, Payne & Dolan has earned many Diamond Achievement Commendations for Excellence in Hot Mix Plant/Site Operations from the National Asphalt Association and Environmental Citizenship Awards from the Wisconsin Department of Natural resources. These assessment programs cover many aspects of asphalt plant and site operations: appearance, permitting and regulatory compliance, environmental practices, operations, safety and community relations.
